Chris Marriott: TNS Captain Reveals Champions League Qualifiers Reality

Chris Marriott is the most decorated player in Cymru Premier history after winning his eleventh league title with TNS in March.

Joining the club from the Wrexham academy, where he played under current Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper and former Liverpool defender Joey Jones, in 2009, Marriott made his TNS debut in Reykjavik in Europa League qualifying and has remained with The Saints ever since.

Now, 14 years later, he will lead out TNS as captain against Swedish Allsvenskan champions BK Hacken in the First Qualifying Round of the Champions League on June 12.

As the Welsh side gear up for the first leg in Gothenburg, Marriott took time out of his busy schedule to share his European memories with SQaF Untold.

The defender looked back on trips to Anderlecht, Legia Warsaw and Ludogorets and provided insight into how the team prepare for games against some of the continent’s lesser known sides. Chris also revealed his dream Champions League group and fancied taking on a personal rival…
